Christchurch Firefighters Hosting a Charity Coffee Morning

Date: 30th October, 2017

Firefighters are hosting a coffee morning this Saturday (4 November) from 10.30am to 12:30pm at Christchurch fire station, raising awareness and money for Macmillan Cancer Support as part of the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning campaign.

The World’s Biggest Coffee Morning is Macmillan’s biggest fundraising event for people facing cancer. They ask people from all over the UK to host their own coffee mornings and donations last year raised £29.5 million.

For a small donation, members of the public will be able to join in the coffee morning, look around the station and the appliances, getting a better understanding of the role the crews play within their community.

Watch Manager Matt Kiddell is inviting local business to help support the event and McMillian Cancer Support if they wish, by delivering cakes to the fire station on Fairmile Road, prior to the event.

Matt Kiddell said: “We are hosting the event to help raise awareness and money for people with cancer. We are always there for our communities in an emergency and it would be great to engage with them over a nice cup of coffee and a piece of cake.”
