Open day at Ludgershall fire station

Date: 18th October, 2017

Ludgershall fire station will be throwing open its doors on Wednesday 25 October as part of Wiltshire Council’s two-week long Family Learning Festival.

The open day, which will run from 10am to 4pm, will allow visitors to explore the fire station in Castle Street, look around the fire engine, and find out more about what their local firefighters are trained to do.

Various firefighting drills will take place throughout the event, and potential recruits can ask about becoming an on-call firefighter for the local community.

The Family Learning Festival runs until 29 October, with activities across Ludgershall and Tidworth. Learning as a family can help people to become confident, lifelong learners with all the benefits that brings – from better health to being happier. Family learning supports children to achieve at school, and it can be transformative, helping people to find new passions and interests, and realise their aspirations through further learning.

Station Manager Tom Brolan, District Commander for Ludgershall, Amesbury and Pewsey, said: “We are delighted to support the Family Learning Festival, as it gives us a great opportunity to show the local community the skills we acquire through training. We’d also welcome any would-be recruits, and I hope to have an area where they can ‘have a go’! We look forward to welcoming local families throughout the day.”
