Amesbury Fire Station is opening its doors to the public this weekend, with a fun filled open day that promises something for everyone.
The open day will run between 10am and 3pm on Saturday (31 August), and all funds raised will be donated to the Fire Fighters Charity.
The event will feature real fire demonstrations such as hot oil fires, and Blaze Bear will be making an appearance. Visitors will also be able to buy something from the Fire Service Store – while the event is free, any donations and sales will benefit the Fire Fighters Charity.
Other attractions on the day will include activities for children, including a colouring competition, dressing up as a firefighter and hose squirting – as well as a range of refreshments, including an ice cream van.
Station Manager Warren Hathaway said: “This is a great way for the Amesbury community to find out more about its local fire station and what we do. We’d love to see people of all ages come along and spend the day enjoying the demonstrations, activities, perhaps an ice cream or two, and hopefully leave with some essential fire safety knowledge! You will also have the chance to speak to the crews about working for Dorset & Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service.”
