Description: We were called at 2:35am today with reports of a fire at a recycling centre near Candys Lane, Corfe Mullen. Ten pumping appliances are in attendance (Wimborne x 2, Blandford, Poole, Redhill Park, Hamworthy, Westbourne, Springbourne, Christchurch and Ringwood (H&IOW Frs) along with High Volume Pump from Christchurch, Unimog from Wareham, two water carriers (Poole and Ringwood) and additional support vehicles. Local residents are advised to keep doors and windows closed if affected by the smoke.
Update 7am - Firefighters are working hard to tackle the fire involving scrap metal and electrical items using main lines and hose reels jets.
Update 11.15am - The stop came in at 11:04am and the fire has now been contained. Crews are dampening down and diggers are being used to create fire breaks.
Update 2.45pm - The incident has now been scaled back to three relief appliances, two aerial ladder platforms, the High Volume Pump and support vehicles.
There is still a significant smoke plume visible in the area and we still advise local residents to keep doors and windows closed.
