Firewise

Every year, wildfires burn in the UK and more people live where wildfires are a risk. By working together, residents can make their own property and their neighbourhood safer from the risk of wildfires.

Firewise-UK was developed from the Firewise USA® programme, created by the US-based National Fire Protection Association® in cooperation with the USDA Forest Service.  This community risk reduction programme is based on research by the world’s leading fire experts on the ignition of homes from wildfire.

Firewise-UK encourages communities to work together to reduce their risk by taking practical steps in the area around the home and garden.  We continue to work collaboratively with NFPA on community engagement and research.

The Firewise initiative in Dorset is supported by Dorset & Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service, Dorset Police & Crime Commissioner and the Dorset Heaths Partnership.

If you think your community would benefit from being part of Firewise, contact the Dorset Heaths Partnership on 01202 642787 or email [email protected]
