Save Safely

With living costs rising all the time, everyone is looking for ways to save some money. However, there are some areas where saving could be a false economy – and a fire risk.

Let’s all #SaveSafely and make positive changes that help our finances but don’t put our families and homes in danger. Follow the links below for more information.

Before you head off to bed, some simple fire safety checks can save your life – and some of them will save some energy as well. The routine will only add a couple of minutes to your day, but will significantly reduce your risk of a fire.

Whatever your situation, please make sure you have working smoke alarms on every level of your home. We offer free Safe & Well advice, which can include a home visit and the provision of smoke and carbon monoxide detectors.

To request this for yourself, a family member or a vulnerable person, please call us FREE on 0800 038 2323 (leave a message and someone will call you back) or visit www.dwfire.org.uk/safe-and-well-visits

We also have advice on areas where you shouldn’t try to cut costs if you own or run a business – see Keeping your business safe.

The charity Electrical Safety First has advice on its website for areas including heating, running appliances, shopping online and more – click here for more.
