Gillingham firefighters to lead festive parade

Date: 22nd November, 2018

Gillingham firefighters will be getting festive on Friday 30 November in support of the town’s Christmas lights switch-on.

The crew will lead Santa’s parade along the High Street at 6pm, and there will be a stall in the car park opposite the Town Meadow from 5pm, raising money for the Fire Fighters Charity.

Local people will also have the chance to request a free Safe & Well visit, while children – and their families – can look around the fire engine.

Andy Woods, Safe & Well Team Leader at Dorset & Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service, who is also an on-call firefighter in Gillingham, said: “This is a great community event and we’re delighted to be taking part. If anyone wants to know more about becoming an on-call firefighter, or would like to request a Safe & Well visit, come along and have a chat!”
