Final countdown to this Sunday’s Emergency Services Show

Date: 29th August, 2017

This Sunday (3 September) is the eleventh Emergency Services Show – and the first to be held at Cotswold Airport, just north of Malmesbury.

As well as bringing together the various ‘blue light’ services, the Show has raised over £150,000 since its inception, with donations being made to good causes that support the work of the emergency services or the event itself.

This weekend’s Show will be open between 10am and 4pm, and tickets can be bought in advance at www.emergencyservicesshow.com priced £6 adults and £3 for under 16s. They can also be bought on the gate, priced at £6.50 for adults and £3.50 for under 16s – children under three get in for free.

Please note that transactions on site need to be cash, other than the commercial helicopter flights where card payments can be made, and there is no cash machine provision.

Sunday’s timetable includes:

The Backdraft Wheelie Fire Truck

Police dog displays

A multi-agency road traffic collision simulation

Cooker fire demonstrations

There will also be:

The first appearance at the Show by Gloucestershire Police’s horses

Helicopters from Wiltshire Air Ambulance, Great Western Air Ambulance and the National Police Air Service (subject to operational activity)

A wide range of new and vintage emergency vehicles

Fire engine and police car rides – and the chance to see the Showground from above, thanks to helicopter rides (weather permitting)

Sports car rides with Go Motorsport

A fairground and much more!

Visitors will be able to meet with firefighters, police officers, the Police & Crime Commissioner and paramedics, to find out more about the work of the emergency services in Wiltshire and beyond. Many of the charities that work alongside the emergency services will also be in attendance.

Because of the air traffic, visitors are asked NOT to bring drones to the site to take aerial photography. Anyone found using a drone without permission will be asked to leave the Showground.

The Emergency Services Show is organised by volunteers from a number of organisations, including Dorset & Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service, Wiltshire Police and South Western Ambulance Service and, since 2015, the committee has been a registered charity in its own right.

Chairman Chris Harvey said: “We can promise the whole family a great day out! Children will love the police car and fire engine rides, there’s also a funfair, and we have a wide range of exhibits, displays and traders. This is a unique opportunity to meet your emergency services in a non-emergency setting – so we look forward to seeing you!”
