Ship fire – Portland Port

Date: 28th May, 2018

Time: 9:51pm

Description: 2 crews Portland, 2 from Weymouth plus their aerial ladder platform crew, 2 from Dorchester, and Maiden Newton's breathing apparatus support unit and 4 officers were mobilised to a ship fire at the Portland Port. The fire was on a cargo ship docked at Outer Coaling Pier. The fire was in the mid hold and involved an excavator. It was extinguished using the ships fire fighting media and 8 fire fighters in breathing apparatus. One casualty who was suffering with smoke inhalation was treated by the fire service with oxygen.
