RTC Persons Trapped – St Leonards and St Ives

Date: 24th May, 2019

Time: 2.26pm

Description: One pump from Ferndown, one pump from Ringwood, and one pump from Christchurch were mobilised to a report of a road traffic collision involving several vehicles with persons trapped on Matchams Lane, St Leonards and St Ives. Once on scene the crew requested further attendance from the nearest Heavy Rescue appliance which was mobilised from Blandford. They then requested a further pump for RTC equipment which was mobilised from Christchurch. The incident was confirmed as a 5 vehicle collision involving 3 cars, 1 motorcycle and a flat bed truck with 6 persons involved (4 of whom were uninjured). One person in the flat bed truck and one person in a car was released by the Fire Service using RTC equipment and were left in care of the Ambulance Service. Whilst releasing the persons trapped the crews on scene ascertained that they did not need the Heavy Rescue appliance and so it was stood down.
