Premises Fire – Mere

Date: 12th December, 2019

Time: 6.02pm

Description: One pump from Wincanton were mobilised to a report of an alarm actuating at a premises on Castle Street, Mere. On arrival it was confirmed that there had been a fire at the premises so the crew requested a further pump which attended from Gillingham. Prior to Wincanton's arrival there had been a fire in on site machinery which was extinguished by a member of staff using a fire extinguisher. The packing machine was isolated but the warehouse was heavily smoke logged. Crews used one hose reel jet, a thermal imaging camera and on site ventilation systems in order to check the premises, make the scene safe and clear the smoke logging.
