Living room fire in Sturminster Newton extinguished quickly thanks to working smoke detection.

Date: 1st January, 2019

Time: 3.04pm

Description: One crew from Sturminster Newton fire station attended a property following reports of the smoke alarm activating.  On arrival crews carried out an inspection of the property and quickly found there to be a small fire in the living room. A second pump was mobilised, also from Sturminster Newton fire station.  Crews gained entry to the property and extinguished the fire. The stop message was received at 3.23pm and crews were clear from the scene by 3.39pm.  This shows the importance of having working smoke alarms in your property, without the quick response this fire could have escalated through the property.
