Description: Firefighters from Dorchester were called to reports of a large vehicle fire on the A35 this afternoon. On arrival, crews found a lorry carrying hay bales on fire. The fire had started spreading to nearby trees and hedges. At the height of the incident seven fire engines (approx 40 firefighters) were in attendance. Crews used multiple hose reels and with the support of a local farmer were able to remove the hay. The A35 was closed by colleagues from Dorset Police. Update 10am 19 July Firefighters reinspected this incident this morning and will be returning again at 5pm today to dampen down any hot spots that appear.
