Description: At 22:24 Fire control took a 999 call to reports of a fire in the woods. One fire engine from Wareham was mobilised. The crew arrived in 10 minutes and confirmed that there was a fire. Due to the off road location of the fire the incident commander requested the attendance of 4 heavy off road appliances which were sent from Poole, Swanage, Weymouth and Wimborne, a water carrier which was sent from Poole and 2 landrover pumps which were sent from Bere Regis and Hamworthy. The command unit from Hamworthy and Unimog from wareham also attended. The fire involved two hectares of heathland and it is being extinguished using 6 hose reel jets. Crews from Blandford will stay at this incident overnight looking for and damping down hot spots. During this incident a number of standby moves were made by fire control to ensure a good level of fire cover in the area.
