Date: 1st November, 2018
Description: At 19:18 on Thursday 1st November DW Fire Control alerting us to a Fire within a thatched chimney. We immediately mobilised two fire engines (Bere Regis & Dorchester) and an Ariel ladder platform (Westbourne) The first crew then requested the attendance of three more fire engines due to to the thatch on the property being alight, these were sent from Dorchester, Blandford and Poole. A water carrier was also requested shortly after which was also sent from Poole. At the height of the blaze, we had a total of 9 pumping appliances, an Ariel ladder platform, a water carrier and a command support vehicle in attendance. The stop message was received at 03:03. The crews had used 2 Mainlines, 1 CAFS (Compressed Air Foam System) 1 Hose Reel Jet with water supply supplemented from a Light Portable Pump from a nearby river. We are still on scene with 5 pumping appliances removing thatch and dampening down. Attending Stations: Bere Regis, Bridport x2, Dorchester x2, Poole x3, Westbourne x2, Hamworthy, Blandford, Maiden Newton, Portland, Wimborne, Swanage, Weymouth, Cranborne, Sturminster Newton, Sherborne and Redhill Park.
