Fire in the Open Large – Shaftesbury

Date: 12th July, 2018

Time: 19:10

Description: At 19:10, one crew from Shaftesbury were mobilised to a fire with unknown origin. After receiving multiple calls within the next 2 minutes and gathering further information we alerted a second crew from Shaftesbury. On arrival, a further 2 fire appliances and water carrier were requested where it was found that approximately  200 tonnes of used agricultural tyres were well alight. Assistance was sent from Tisbury, Gillingham and Yeovil (Water Carrier)  A second water carrier was later requested along with a foam tender to assist with firefighting. These were both sent from Poole fire station. One crew from Sturminster Newton remains on scene to continue dampening down and turning over any hotspots and will do so throughout the night.
