Fire Domestic – Thresher Drive, Groundwell, Swindon

Time: 12:56pm

Description: At 12:56hrs today 14th May 2019, Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service attended reports of a fire at a property in Thresher Drive, Groundwell, Swindon. Crews from Stratton and Swindon Fire Station were initially mobilised to the incident and upon arrival, requested for further assistance for an additional 3 fire engines, as well as an aerial ladder platform to attend to deal with the incident. Fire crews found and dealt with a fire inside a garage of a mid-terraced property, using 8 breathing apparatus sets, 3 high-pressure hose-reel jets and 3 main jets. The adjacent properties were also checked by the crews to ensure that there was no further fire spread. Crews also carried out hot-strikes in the local area and a safe and well visit for residents affected by the fire. The British Red Cross also attended the incident to provide advice to the occupier following a fire at the address.
