Protecting our most vulnerable people

A large part of community work is about protecting our most vulnerable members to keep them safe, living healthy and independent lives wherever possible. As such we have numerous initiatives in place. We have identified that the number of vulnerable individuals and households is set to increase, and consequently the targeting of our work is becoming increasingly more important. Whilst we continue to offer a tailored level of support and engagement for those individuals in the lower risk categories our focus remains on the most vulnerable. Our work with these groups focuses on providing education and support to educate them on the risk of fires and how to keep safe.

Many of the most vulnerable individuals within our communities are protected by the Equality Act 2010, with characteristics such as age and disability being recognised as protected groups under the Act. Further information on the work we do to ensure a tailored approach is in place to best support the requirements of these groups can be found here
